The Buckeye Valley seniors celebrated their final home game with six goals in a 7-0 victory over Marion Harding to close out the regular season in MOAC boys soccer action Monday night in Delaware.
Brennan Perrine had two goals and two assists, Anthony Seliskar had two goals and an assist and Nathan Chwalik had a goal and an assist – all seniors – to lead the way for the Barons.
“We gave a lot of props to last year’s senior class for reviving the program,” BV coach Eric Staley said.
Senior Nathan Chwalik beat the goalie right to give the Barons a 1-0 lead with 34:17 left in the first half.
“I told him early on that we were going to need him and his leadership on the backline even though he’s played midfield his entire career,” Staley said. “I was certain to remind these guys at the beginning of the season that they were a part of just as many wins … so, it was all gravy from here.”
Senior Dalton Spencer fed Perrine, who found Seliskar for a goal a little more than four minutes later.
Seliskar added his second goal to push the lead to 3-0 by the half.
“There are some people that know how to put the ball in the net — how to find space for themselves so they can get open for a shot — and they’re not afraid to shoot,” Staley said. “He’s not a ball hog or anything, he just knows when it’s time to shoot and places his shots well.”
Junior Bill Daily scored off a feed by Perrine to open the second-half scoring with 26:22 left.
“Bill does a good job of creating space for himself,” Staley said. “A lot of times he’ll do it at midfield. He does it to advance the ball – he’s got those long legs – he doesn’t have to take too many strides to beat his man. He sees the field very well.”
Seliskar fed Perrine for a goal less than two minutes later to push it to 5-0.
“(Perrine) is in that central midfield spot for a reason,” Staley said. “He runs the attack – he’s a very smart player.”
Perrine added his second goal of the contest on a feed by Chwalik with 12:45 left and Caleb King rounded out the scoring a little over four minutes later.
“(Chwalik) has the best field vision of possibly anybody I’ve ever coached,” Staley said. “(Perrine is) not one of those tunnel-vision guys that thinks (he) has to go straight to goal every time. He knows when it’s time to pull the ball back and (attack) horizontally and not vertically. He’s just a really smart player.
Caleb King started in goal for the Barons (10-5) before giving way to Trent Slavik in the second half.
Parker Richards had four saves for the Presidents (3-11-1).
Next up, BV turns its attention to the Division II district tournament where it is the 14th seed. The Barons will travel to 12th-seeded Hebron Lakewood Monday night at 7 p.m. in the first round.

GIRLS SOCCER
Jillian Hon scored a pair of goals, one unassisted and the other off a corner kick from Anna Cox, to lead the Buckeye Valley girls soccer team to a 5-0 MOAC win over host Harding Monday in Marion.
Hannah Cowan, Hanna Fenstermaker and Cox also scored in the win.
FIELD HOCKEY
Emma Brown and Elise Harder found the back of the net, both off feeds from Allison Martin as Olentangy set a new school record for wins in a season with Monday’s 2-1 victory over CSG.
Erika Brehm finished with eight saves for the Braves, who improved to 9-5-1 with the win.
