Late surge helps DCS cruise past Gahanna Christian

The Delaware Christian boys soccer team spotted host Gahanna Christian an early goal, but scored six unanswered to cruise to a 6-1 MOCAL win Tuesday in Gahanna.

Chad Blakemore scored the equalizer off a pass from Isaac Houser in the 16th minute before Keenan Siebert found the back of the net for the go-ahead tally later in the opening half.

Siebert added two second-half goals to complete his hat trick while Houser and Blakemore added goals in the second 40 minutes of action to smooth out the scoring summary.

DCS keeper Curtis Bean had two saves in the win.

Big Walnut 1, Independence 0

Chase Geddis poured in a goal with 11:45 left and the defense made sure it was enough as the Golden Eagles notched a non-league win Tuesday in Columbus.

Michael Kline finished with one save in the BW goal.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The Delaware Christian seniors stepped up big time on their Senior Night, leading the Eagles to a straight-set win over visiting Gahanna Christian Tuesday in Delaware.

Delaware Christian won the first set 25-12 before taking the next two by respective scores of 25-16 and 25-8. The win gave DCS a perfect 12-0 MOCAL record and its third straight league title.

Senior Brianna Blackburn dished out 24 assists, senior Abbey Evans chipped in eight kills, eight digs and four aces while Mary Kerins, another senior, finished with 13 digs and 13 assists in the win.

Olentangy 3, Dublin Scioto 1

Olivia Margolies finished with 12 kills and nine digs, Nhu Do added 11 kills and eight digs and Emily Margolies chipped in eight kills of her own to lead the Braves to a non-league win over the visiting Irish Tuesday in Lewis Center.

Lexie Weithman and Madyson Chitty anchored the defense with 15 digs apiece while Gabby Trees and Maggie Samijlenko quarterbacked the offense with a combined 38 assists.

Orange 3, Gahanna Lincoln 2

Taylor Metzler had a team-best 16 kills and Carrigan O’Reilly added 12 kills and 35 assist to help the Pioneers outlast the Lions in a five-set thriller Tuesday in Lewis Center.

Momentum swung back and forth all night, with Orange hanging on for the 25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11 win.
