It took some time for the Delaware Christian boys basketball team to get going, but once it did there was little host Danville could do about it.

The Eagles, who trailed 58-44 heading into the fourth quarter, outscored the Blue Devils 27-12 down the stretch to seal a thrilling 71-70 win Tuesday in Danville.

Senior Adam Standley, who finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six steals, scored the go-ahead bucket with 6.2 seconds left.

DCS had its best offensive output in the fourth, but had its defense to thank for it. The Eagles forced nine fourth-quarter turnovers to ignite the late rally.

Other Delaware Christian standouts included Isaac Rindfuss, who had a career-high 22 points to go with two steals; and Seth Standley, who finished with a career-best 17 points, four rebounds and two steals.

The Eagles’ top trio accounted for 43 points in the second half alone.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

All former Delaware Hayes girls basketball players are invited to attend Friday’s league showdown against visiting Hilliard Bradley free of charge, Hayes coach Jim Morgan announced earlier this week.

A sign-in sheet will be available at the gate. Tip time is slated for 7:30 p.m.

BOYS BOWLING

Orange extended its season-opening winning streak to five games Wednesday, topping visiting Big Walnut 2,131-1,876.

Andrew Kicas paced the Pioneers with games of 211 and 190.

Henry Lemaster led the Golden Eagles with games of 198 and 211 for a match-high series of 409.

GIRLS BOWLING

Heather Gabele led Orange to a 2,029-1,508 win, firing games of 226 and 182 for a match- and team-high series of 408 Wednesday against Big Walnut.

SarahKate Palmer was also solid, finishing with games of 211 and 195.

The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, were led by Kaitlyn Morrison, who had games of 168 and 151.
