Nathan Edington singled home Branson Kurtz with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Buckeye Valley baseball team notched a thrilling walk-off win over visiting Watkins Memorial Tuesday in Delaware.

The teams traded zeros until the fifth, when both plated runs to make it a 1-1 game heading into the final two frames.

Dylan Lydy, who allowed just one run on five hits while striking out two en route to collecting the complete-game win, kept the Warriors off the scoreboard to set up the decisive seventh — an inning Dawson Worl got started by reaching on an error.

Hayden Owens, just looking to push the winning run into scoring position, followed with a bunt single to the third baseman and Leo Wells singled on a bunt to the pitcher to load the bases with no outs.

Edington took care of the rest, lacing a line drive up the middle to send the Baron fans home happy.

Ownes and Ben Spaulding led BV at the plate. Spaulding, who reached safely three times, finished with two hits and a run scored while Owens had two hits and a run knocked in.

Buckeye Valley improved to 3-15 with the win, breaking a six-game losing streak in the process.

Jonathan Alder 16, Buckeye Valley 3, 5 inn.
