The Olentangy Liberty girls lacrosse team started strong and hung on late, outlasting host Medina 13-9 in a Division I regional semifinal Tuesday night.

The win sets up a showdown with top-seeded New Albany in Saturday’s regional final.

The Patriots, who led 10-4 at halftime, scored early and often. Molly Bursinger broke the scoring seal and, after Medina scored the next two to take a brief lead, Grace Buckey found the back of the net to even things up.

Liberty dominated the rest of the half, using an 8-2 run to take the big lead into the break. Bursinger scored three of the next four goals to create some separation. Madison Rapier scored three first-half goals of her own while Buckey and Mollie McCormack added the others.

Bursinger scored to make it 11-4 early in the second half and, after Medina reeled off five straight to create some drama, McCormack and Bursinger scored to account for the final margin.
