Pacers sweep away Wolves 5-0

The Delaware Hayes girls tennis team picked up a convincing league win Thursday afternoon, sweeping away host Worthington Kilbourne 5-0.

The Pacers got singles wins from Paris Knipp, Renae Haferman and Grace Martin. Knipp handled Hannah Linderman 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Haferman beat Libby Costello 6-3, 6-1 at second singles and Martin knocked off Chloe Howard 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 at third singles.

Hayes sealed the sweep with a pair of wins on the doubles courts. Erika Johnson and Emmaline Riggs teamed up to beat the Wolves’ Lauren Lemmard and Alysia Sanchez 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles while Sarah Midura and Serena Ishwar beat Rose Mampshire and Rhea Talesa 6-0, 6-2 at second doubles.

Big Walnut 3, Newark 2

The Golden Eagles improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in league play with Thursday’s OCC win over the host Wildcats.

Big Walnut winners included Macie Kercsmar (6-0, 6-0 at first singles), Lindsay Hill (6-1, 6-1 at second singles) and the duo of Lexie Kirkpatrick and Kayleigh Cummins (6-1, 6-1 at first doubles).

Also: Orange 5, Westerville South 0.

VOLLEYBALL

Delaware Christian continued its solid start to the season, knocking off host Tree of Life in straight sets Thursday in Columbus.

The Eagles won the first set 25-13 before sealing the deal with respective wins of 25-12 and 25-16 in the second and third.

Anna Fuller and Lyssi Snouffer led DCS. Fuller finished with 19 digs and four aces while Snouffer collected 17 digs, 10 kills and two aces.

Sarah Rosato was also solid, finishing with nine kills and five aces in her first game since missing three straight, and Maggie Broadfoot had five solo blocks to go with three kills and four digs.

Also: Liberty def. Newark 25-12, 25-14, 25-14.

BOYS SOCCER

Olentangy held on for a solid 3-2 non-league win over host Worthington Kilbourne Thursday night.

Nick Miller, Ryan Renner and Matt Celona found the back of the net for the Braves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Pickerington North 3, Olentangy 2; Olentangy Liberty 2, Dublin Jerome 1; Grove City 4, Orange 3.
