Staff Report

The Olentangy boys basketball team picked up a convincing win heading into tourney play, using a huge third quarter to cruise past a steady Marysville team 79-59 Tuesday in Lewis Center.

The Braves were solid from the start, but really made their push coming out of the break. Up 14-12 after one and 34-29 at halftime, Olentangy outscored Marysville 24-10 in the decisive third period. The Braves won the fourth 21-20 to smooth out the scoring summary.

Eleven different players scored for Olentangy, including Carter Kinnaird and Jason Sieve, who finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Jevon Knox led the Monarchs with a game-high 16.

Next up, the 27th-seeded Braves will take on either ninth-seeded Hilliard Bradley or 32nd-seeded Watkins Memorial in a sectional final next Friday.

Marion Harding 50, Hayes 45

The Pacers allowed just 22 points through three quarters, with an eight-point lead to show for it, but the host Presidents closed the game with a 28-15 fourth to steal a non-league win Tuesday in Marion.

Will Yoakum led Hayes with 18 points while Terin Kinsway chipped in 13.

The 28th-seeded Pacers return to action in the first round of the Central District tourney. They’ll play 10th-seeded Walnut Ridge at 1 p.m. Saturday in Columbus.
