Susie DiSabato Bibler brings an impressive portfolio of community involvement for her new role.

Bibler will serve as executive director of Main Street Delaware Inc., the accredited downtown enhancement organization known for FirstFridays.

“Over the last 16 years of living here, I have seen our downtown transform and become a destination place for our family, friends and neighbors. I am eager to bring my skill set to this organization and grow with Main Street Delaware for years to come,” she said in a statement.

Bibler replaces Frances Jo Hamilton, who served in the role for nearly a decade until she was hired as director of revitalization for Heritage Ohio, the parent nonprofit of Main Street Delaware.

“I am so excited to work with the new director of Main Street Delaware. I am certain that her fresh view of the program will bring brand new vision and growth to the organization so dear to my heart,” Hamilton said in an email.

Bibler has served as a major gifts officer for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium since 2015. Before then, she worked with other nonprofits including the American Red Cross and United Way of Delaware County and has has managed donor portfolios of more than 2,000 prospects, planned and executed major events and led volunteers to improve the community.

“Susie’s community involvement, leadership, professional experience and unmatched passion and enthusiasm for Delaware will ensure that Main Street Delaware continues to provide a vibrant downtown experience for the visitors, residents, business owners and property owners,” said Chip Gregory, chair of the search committee and president of the MSD board of directors, in a statement.

Bibler, who studied communications at Ohio State University, is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Delaware Women’s Leadership Network and Association of Fundraising Professionals Delaware County. She is a facilitator for Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Leadership Delaware class and has participated on the board of the Delaware Community Center YMCA and was a member of the Powell Women’s Club.

“As a merchant in the downtown, I enjoy and benefit from the efforts of Main Street Delaware,” said Kathleen Miller, owner-operator of Button Up art gallery and member of the MSD board, in prepared remarks. “I’m eager to work with Susie and to see what new ideas she will bring. This is an exciting time in downtown Delaware.”

City spokesman Lee Yoakum agreed.

“Main Street has hit a home run with this choice. The city of Delaware is looking forward to working with Susie to make Main Street and our great downtown even better,” he said.

Bibler starts her new job Monday, but will meet with Main Street board of directors at today’s meeting; its committees during their Thursday meeting and may attend this week’s FirstFriday in an observational role, according to board member Nicole Fowles.

The upcoming monthly event on Friday, sponsored by Barley Hopsters will feature free activities including a display of fire-fighting equipment by the Delaware Fire Department and a fire-safety scavenger hunt throughout the downtown from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sandusky Street will be closed between Spring and Winter streets.

Delaware firefighters plan to perform a vehicle-extrication demonstration using the “Jaws of Life” tool to cut open a car, as well as a rappelling and aerial demonstration utilizing downtown buildings.

Free pumpkins will be provided for families and children from MadMax Farms, 4140 Clarkshaw Road, in Powell. The farm was established in 2004 as a tribute to Maxwell Richard Neimeyer, 5, who died the same year after battling Lissencephaly, a rare neurological disorder. The family sends all contributions to the farm to children’s charities.
