With signing ceremonies scattered throughout the county, Wednesday was a good day for more than a few area athletes.

The type of day they’ll remember the rest of their lives.

“It felt awesome,” Hayes senior Grant Godfrey said of signing his letter of intent to play collegiate golf at the University of Toledo. “All my hard work has paid off and I can’t wait to see what I can do these next four years.”

Classmate Madison Huck, the Pacer softball team’s ace, also signed Wednesday morning. She’s headed to Kent State.

Others signees included Olentangy’s Nate Monastra (Xavier University/baseball), Ellie Nebraska (University of Akron/swimming), Ashley Post (Butler University/softball), Zach Whitenack (Cleveland State University/lacrosse) and Kelly Meade (West Liberty University/basketball); Liberty’s Claire Linn (Miami University/cross country), Mason Groves (Winthrop/baseball), Spencer Yankle (Oakland/baseball), Cameron McCloskey (Tiffin University/golf), Karri Stadulis (Kent State/field hockey), Olivia Susi (Ball State/field hockey), Alexia Meyer (Missouri State/tennis), Mitchell Towne (Grand Valley State/cross country and track), Cameron Thatcher (Stanford/diving) and Micayla Gammon (University of Indianapolis/lacrosse); and Orange’s Jordan Gels (Stoney Brook University/volleyball), Leah Howser (Ohio Dominican University/volleyball) and Zach Mahon (Ohio Dominican University/golf).
