The Pacers’ big boys had a big night Thursday in Delaware.

With the Hayes wrestling team trailing 9-4 three matches in, the squad claimed six points in each of the seven heaviest weight classes to grab a lead it parlayed into a solid 58-21 OCC-Capital Division dual-meet win over visiting Big Walnut.

Forfeit wins at 152 (Garrett Young) and 285 (Paul Lance) sandwiched five straight pins. Greg Brusco (160) started the parade of pins by forcing the Golden Eagles’ Kyle Humphries to the mat in 2:12. Max Wright (170) then pinned Carson Dearth in 2:31, Carter Davidson (182) pinned Phillip Roberto in 27 seconds, Jakota Carter (195) brought down Nathan Hadden in 56 seconds and Chris Martinez (220) pinned Tyler Hogg in 3:15 to punctuate the surge.

The Pacers’ Zach Williams (106) kept the run going, pinning the Eagles’ Trevor Ambrose in 1:56, before Big Walnut picked up points in two of the final three weight classes to smooth out the scoring summary.

Jalill Barnes (132) also had a hand in the win, handling BW’s Josh Halbakken 17-4 in the first match of the evening.

Eagle winners included Cole Foster (126), who pinned the Pacers’ Jason Dominguez in 2:20; Matt Halbakken (138), who outlasted Ian Mayberry 13-6 in double overtime; and Josh Parker, who pinned Jake Henley in 4:50. Quinton Davis (113), meanwhile, won via forfeit.
