AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Funeral services have been set for the two adults and two girls killed in a fire at a northeast Ohio home that apparently lacked smoke detectors.
WKYC-TV in Akron reports that visiting hours will be held Monday for Omar Riley, Shirley Wallis and two young sisters, 9-year-old Aniyla Riley and 8-year-old Shanice Riley. A service will follow at Celebration Church.
The three-story house where a family of five lived with a friend caught fire Dec. 3. A 12-year-old girl was revived and the other woman escaped by jumping from an attic window.
Firefighters say an Akron ordinance requires homes there to have working smoke detectors and investigators found none in the house. They were considering whether the rental property’s owner should be cited.
