Delaware City Schools officials posed for a groundbreaking photo at Smith Elementary School Wednesday afternoon. School officials and community members were celebrating the groundbreaking for the upcoming Smith addition which will add a new wing of classrooms, a gym and an improved parking lot. The addition is projected to be completed before the start of the 2017-18 school year. From left to right are Kara Glesenkamp, Smith Elementary School Principal Rochelle Thompson, historical society president Brent Carson, Delaware Board of Education Vice President Jayna McDaniel-Browning, Superintendent Paul Craft and Stephen Glesenkamp. Craft said McDaniel-Browning and Carson were instrumental in winning passage of the tax issue that made the addition possible.
