SourcePoint will soon begin distributing free farmers market vouchers to qualifying local adults age 60 and older.

The vouchers can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, baked goods, honey and food-bearing plants from participating farmers markets in Delaware, Powell and Sunbury, according to SourcePoint officials.

Participants who sign up before Oct. 28 will receive 30 vouchers with a total value of $60. All vouchers are valid until Oct. 31, but participants are encouraged to check with their local market to determine how late in the season it is open as market dates differ.

Vouchers may be used at the following markets: Eastside Farmers Market in Delaware, Main Street Delaware Market, Powell Farmers Market and Sunbury Market.

Applications will be accepted and vouchers will first be distributed at SourcePoint at 800 Cheshire Road in Delaware on Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After the initial distribution in May, vouchers will be available at SourcePoint during normal business hours, as well as at participating farmers markets, beginning June 4. Vouchers will be distributed while supplies last.

To qualify for vouchers, one must be a Delaware County resident age 60 or older who does not reside in a nursing home or facility where meals are provided. Individuals also must meet certain income requirements (single individuals with an annual household income up to $23,760 or a couple with an annual household income up to $32,040), officials said.

Applications are available at SourcePoint or online. For more information, go to www.MySourcePoint.org or call 740-363-6677.
