The local library will host an antiques expert on June 5 to discuss creating plans for your own possessions.

On Sunday, June 5, at 1 p.m., Andrew Richmond of Wipiak Consulting & Appraisals will talk about how to create a plan at the Delaware County District Library’s main library.

The free program will include a one-hour presentation that covers planning tips, when and how to get appraisals, and ways to sell personal property. Following the presentation, Richmond will conduct a two-hour appraisal fair. Individuals may bring up to two items to have Richmond estimate their values.

Space is limited, and advanced registration is required for the two-hour appraisal portion, organizers say. Spots can be filled by calling 740-362-3861, emailing AskUs@delawarelibrary.org or talking to any library staff member.

Richmond has spent more than a decade in the world of antiques and fine art auctions.

Following Richmond’s appearance on June 5, he’ll present at the Delaware main library again on Tuesday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. as a guest of the Delaware County Genealogical Society. Presenting on “Ohio Furniture 101: An Introduction to Styles and Cultural Groups, 1788-1888,” Richmond will discuss using early Ohio furniture to “map” cultural groups, discover evidence of individual culture’s style, and show how each style was adapted to life in early Ohio.

A new library research resource, called “P4A Prices for Antiques,” offers an easy way to determine market value of antiques and collectibles based on actual sales data from regional and national auction houses. Patrons may be interested in researching their items using the resource before attending either of Richmond’s programs, organizers say. More information can be found at www.delawarelibrary.org/research.
