School officials from Delaware Hayes High School report that senior Aaliyah Wilson, 17, died this morning when her High Street home caught fire.

Principal Richard Stranges said counselors have been made available to meet with students throughout the week.

“In moments like these, we are reminded to value every precious day that we have with our students, our children and our families, Stranges said in an email Thursday. “If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call the school.”

Two firefighters were reportedly injured during the fire, but were treated at the scene.
