The Olentangy Local School District Board of Education will consider at tonight’s meeting the hiring Emily K. Hatfield as district treasurer through the end of 2019.

The board appointed Hatfield as interim treasurer after former treasuer Brian Kern accepted the same the position at Dublin City Schools. Prior to her appointment, Hatfield was the school’s assistant treasurer, and received an additional $5,000 to her salary as interim.

The board hired in August the Ohio School Boards Association to search for a candidate to fill the position for a charge of up to $9,500 including additional expenses such as travel.

In other business, enrollment projections will be on the agenda. The district’s Facility Committee recommends a housing-based model because of the increased number of building permits issued and number of existing homes and a continued difficulty in projecting Kindergarten.

District enrollment as of Aug. 26 is at 20,287 and is projected to increase at 20,327 students by the end of the year. Enrollment is projected to increase to 23,254 students by the 2026-2027 school year.
