The Friends of Alum Creek Dog Park will host its 5th Annual pet food drive 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The drive will take place at the dog park, 3993 Hollenback Road, in Lewis Center. Donations will go to SourcePoint Meals on Wheels of Delaware County and Hospets of Union County.

Items needed are large bags of dry dog and cat food for young, adult and senior pets, canned cat food, kitty litter, biscuit-type dog treats and gift cards to stores that sell pet supplies.

Although seniors benefit from owning pets with less depression and loneliness, some share their delivered meals with their pets when they cannot get out to buy the pet’s food, according to a press release about the event. Therefore, some seniors are not getting enough nutrition and the pet is eating food it should not.
