Three volunteer boards seeking members

The Delaware County Board of Commissioners currently is seeking applicants for three volunteer boards: the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board; the Delaware Area Transit Agency Board; and the Delaware County Community Corrections Planning Board.

Members of the Delaware-Morrow Mental Health & Recovery Services Board serve four-year terms. Applicants should be residents of Delaware County and have a strong interest in mental health, alcohol or drug addiction programs and facilities. Board members evaluate and monitor all programs and services under contractual commitments, and help recruit and promote local financial support from public and private resources.

This term would begin July 1, 2017, and expire June 30, 2021.

Members of the Delaware Area Transit Agency Board serve three-year terms, and are responsible for the governance, management, administration and operation of the county public transit system.

The Delaware Area Transit Agency Board meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. The current vacancy is to fill an unexpired term that would end Oct. 24, 2017. Applicants must be residents of Delaware County.

The Delaware County Community Corrections Planning Board is made up of judges, attorneys, commissioners, local law enforcement, probation officers and community representatives. The Board of Commissioners is seeking to appoint two citizen members, each of whom would serve a term beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2019.

These members must be part of the largest racial minority in Delaware County, which, according to the 2010 census, is defined as “Asian.” An “Asian” is defined as a person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent.
