New Community Authority approved for Evans Farm

The city of Delaware gave the OK for a petition to allow Evans Farm to establish a New Community Authority to commence financing and construction of public infrastructure improvements.

Due to being a proximate city, Delaware was required to give or not give approval if developers intend to create an NCA at the estimated 1,159.6 acres in Orange and Berlin Townships of southern Delaware County. The petition also will be up for consideration by Delaware County officials.

City Council approved the action without any financial consideration on Monday per the recommendation of the Public Works Department. Officials said the future community will have negligible impact on infrastructure because it’s south of the city.

The development is considered part of a “new urbanism movement” as the development will have walkable access to shops and commercial businesses within the community once completed, according to city records.

The district will have about 2,100 single-family and about 1,000 multifamily units after the community is developed over the next 15 to 20 years — and about 6,500 residents.
