Hillary and Bill Clinton are known for their uncanny ability not to tell the truth.
David Geffen, a Hollywood mogul with very deep pockets, an off again now on again Clinton supporter, once characterized Hillary and Bill Clinton’s remarkable ability to lie; “They do it with such ease that it’s troubling.”
One of Hillary’s biggest lies, always given with a reassuring smile, is her claim, “I believe in the 2nd Amendment.” But she only believes in her version of the 2nd Amendment. She said in response to a question at a town hall in 2015, that she embraced the massive Australian gun confiscation of the mid-1990s and early 2000s.
Some has said as president Hillary Clinton can’t get rid of the 2nd Amendment…but that’s not true. We are one Supreme Court Justice away from losing our 2nd Amendment rights. In 2008, the District of Columbia verses Heller, and again in 2010, McDonald verses City of Chicago; together these decisions by the Supreme Court recognized that the 2nd Amendment protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms for self-defense that is not dependent upon service in an organized militia and that right binds the acts of federal, state, and local officials.
Both cases were decided by a single vote, and that vote is now gone with the death of Justice Scalia.
That means there is no longer majority support among the justices for our individual right to keep and bear arms for self-defense.
Hillary Clinton said that the Supreme Court “got it wrong” on the 2nd amendment. She knows full well that if she is elected president and has the opportunity to replace just one of the justices in the Heller and McDonald majorities with an anti-gun nominee, a new Supreme Court would overturn those landmark decisions as soon as it possibly could.
Without the individual right to keep and bear arms, there would then be nothing standing in the way of federal gun confiscation, just like in Australia. Clinton has referred to the NRA and its members as “the enemy.” If you are a member of the NRA as we are, then she has made it clear that she is not on our side.
Both the text of the 2nd Amendment and the intent behind it are clear… the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Law-abiding citizens have the right not only to own weapons, but with proper training, carry them as well. The 2nd Amendment isn’t about having firearms for hunting or recreational shooting, it’s about the right of a free people to defend themselves with arms if necessary.
