Brown, Martin lead Olentangy past Lancaster

The Olentangy field hockey team parlayed a 1-0 halftime lead into a 4-1 win over visiting Lancaster Tuesday in Lewis Center.

Emma Brown scored the game’s first goal off a feed from Allison Martin, then made it 2-0 with her second of the game early in the second half. Grace Cory and Elise Harder also found the back of the net to smooth out the scoring summary. Martin, meanwhile, assisted on three of the four goals while Erika Brehm finished with three saves in the Braves goal.

The Delaware Christian volleyball team hosted one of the best Division IV teams Ohio has to offer and walked away with a thrilling five-set win over visiting Fairfield Christian Tuesday night.

It was a back-and-fourth affair throughout. The Eagles won the first set 25-18, dropped the second 21-25, won the third 25-18, lost the fourth 22-25 and sealed the deal with a 16-14 win in the fifth.

Mary Kerins anchored the defense with 35 digs. Other DCS standouts included Abbey Evans, Sarah Rosato and Lyssi Snouffer, who had 14 kills apiece. Snouffer added 24 digs and five aces, including the match winner; Evans had 21 digs to go with her kills; and Rosato complemented her kills with 13 digs and four aces.

Brianna Blackburn was also solid, finishing with 49 assists while Anna Fuller had 15 digs, four kills and four aces.

GIRLS SOCCER

Emma Padgett, Hunter Maxeiner and Bailey Bodker scored while Jordan Foxworthy finished with five saves in the Golden Eagle goal as Big Walnut battled to a 3-3 draw against host Newark in OCC action Tuesday night.
