Preservation Parks of Delaware has several free events coming up that are open to the public.
They include:
• “Grow, Save, Swap,” Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. Join the Delaware County Master Gardeners and learn tips and tricks to successfully grow plants and save their seeds. Participants can bring their own seeds to trade as part of an old-fashioned seed swap. Free; ages 10 and older. Gallant Farm, 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road, Delaware.
• “All Aboard for Railroad Fun,” Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, April 17, noon to 4 p.m. The Delaware County Model Railroaders Group holds open houses each month at the Trailhouse at Big Walnut Community Trail. Visitors can watch the trains while they learn about model railroading and the development of the railroad industry in America. The display, which is in HO scale, includes the trains and a miniature landscaped village and surrounding countryside. Free; all ages. Big Walnut Community Trailhouse, 168 S. Vernon St., Sunbury.
• “Osprey Homecoming,” Sunday, April 17, 1 to 4 p.m. Participants will celebrate the return of the Ospreys from their winter grounds in South America. Drop in to view osprey through scopes; enjoy crafts and refreshments; and learn about Ohio’s threatened and endangered species. Free; all ages. Hogback Ridge Park, 2656 Hogback Road, Sunbury.
• “Hike for the Earth,” Friday, April 22, 6 to 8 p.m. Celebrate Earth Day by bringing gently used clothing and shoes to donate to the Common Ground Free Store. Participants will then take a hike along the Shale Hollow Trails. Free; all ages. Shale Hollow Park, 6320 Artesian Run, Lewis Center.
