Computers – desktops and laptops – smart phone and tablets. We all have some form of technology that we’ve grown accustomed to and depend on.
Most of us fantasize that we’re technical wizards living at the cutting edge of a new age, until one of our devices crashes, breaks, or in some other way fails to operate as intended. That’s when we admit that we’re only device users; that we need professional help getting back up to speed and online.
That’s where PC Knights comes in, a new business that opened in April at 101-C W. Cherry St. in Fairland Plaza in Sunbury.
PC Knights is the husband-and-wife team of Ashley and Nathan Hornbaker. Ashley studied computer repair and system networking while in high school, and graduated from Westwood College in Denver; Nathan is a graduate of the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona.
The Hornbakers are not just academically trained; they bring a host of experience to their new Sunbury business.
“I’ve been a computer technician for 12 years, Nathan for seven years,” Ashley said. “We previously owned Blacksheep Computers in Binghamton, New York, but moved here to be closer to Nathan’s family.”
Ashley said PC Knights will work on almost any electronic device, but specializes in computers, smartphones and tablets.
“We’re both technicians first, sales people second,” Ashley said. “We do everything in-house and typically have a one- or two-day turnaround if we have parts in stock. We also offer free diagnosis. Whether it’s a $20 problem or a $200 problem, we give you a quote before you have anything invested.”
Ashley said PC Knights avoids corporate work; the business focus is on helping individual customers with their technology repair needs.
“We not only repair devices, we want to teach our customers how to avoid future problems,” Ashley said.
PC Knights does data recovery on working systems when memory is not too severely damaged, and also offers free recycling and data destruction services. For data destruction, hard drives are subjected to a high-power magnet to wipe information, then the hard drive is destroyed.
PC Knights is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and Ashley and Nathan will also see customers by appointment outside normal business hours.
“As a husband-and-wife team, we try to establish personal business relationships,” Ashley said. “We always try to accommodate our customer’s emergencies.”
PC Knights’ website is PCKnights.com. PC Knights can also be found on Facebook and Google+.
