Bicentennial cookbook planned

The Big Walnut Area Historical Society is creating a bicentennial cookbook of family recipes to celebrate 200 years of good cooks in Sunbury, according to Myers Inn Museum curator Polly Horn.

In 2016, the village of Sunbury will celebrate its bicentennial, with a host of activities planned by a bicentennial committee.

“We’re asking every family in the community to send in a family favorite to be included,” Horn said. “Recipes may be given in memory of a grandparent who started the tradition, or just a neighbor one wants to remember. Or how about that great barbecue you served last weekend? The keepsake cookbook will make a good reminder of the Sunbury bicentennial.”

Horn said favorite family recipes should be sent to: Recipes at BWAHS, P.O. Box 362, Sunbury, OH 43074.

Recipes may also be emailed to [email protected] or hand-delivered to the Myers Inn Museum during regular hours. Include your name and phone number in case there are questions about the recipe.

Suzanne Allen and Warren Owen are chairing the cookbook committee. If you have questions or wish to help, call the Myers Inn Museum at 740-965-1154. The museum is open from noon to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
