No signs of ‘Blue Drop’ heroin in Delaware County

After a Marion man was arrested last week for allegedly distributing dangerous “blue drop” heroin, the Delaware County Drug Task Force says it does not believe any of it has made its way to Delaware County.

The Associated Press reported last week that the supercharged blue-tinted batch of heroin from Chicago sent more than 30 overdose victims to the hospital and two to the morgue in a 12-day stretch.

Eric L. Creagh, 32, was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charges were filed in U.S. District Court.

Creagh allegedly had sold more than 20 grams of “blue drop” heroin to a confidential informant on several occasions between May 30 and June 8.

Tracy Whited, head of community and media relations at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, said the drug task force has no evidence that the heroin Creagh was allegedly distributing is in Delaware County.

“According to our Drug Task Force, we have not yet seen evidence that blue drop heroin has made its way into Delaware County,” Whited said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that Creagh appeared in U.S. District Court in Toledo last week and was ordered detained. The case is reportedly a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Agency, Marion Metro Drug Enforcement Unit, the Marion Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
