Local manufacturer Luvata Ohio in Delaware celebrated “Employee Appreciation Day” recently.
Along with thanking employees on June 18, the company provided a full catered lunch, including barbecue ribs, chicken, potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw and cupcakes for dessert, company officials said.
Luvata Ohio manufactures resistance-welding electrodes, welding accessories and other copper products. In 2014, the company received achievement awards for its waste management and health and safety programs, while shipping more copper welding wire than ever before.
With about 100 employees, the average employee tenure with the company is currently 14 years, company officials said.
“I have over 20 years with the company,” Jeff Crump, tooling coordinator with Luvata Ohio, said in a prepared release from the company, “and I feel like the baby of the family when I compare myself to the other employees who have been here 42-43 years. I had 13 years in the military serving in the Gulf War during Desert Storm and I’ve been to several countries in Europe, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and France. But I like it here and I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon.”
Crump said he attributes the fondness for his job to a number of different factors. “Every day we’re presented with new challenges,” he said. “Sometimes I get to learn something new and other times I get to help solve a problem. Even in planning a new project and coordinating all of the details to bring it to completion, I like the variety and feel my contributions make a difference. I find all of these things rewarding and they give me a great sense of accomplishment.”
“At Luvata, we want to be the supplier of choice to our customers and the employer of choice for our staff,” said Dirk Greywitt, vice president with Luvata Ohio. “And we know it is a very complex and competitive market place for both. Having an Employee Appreciation Day and handing out a few small gifts is just one of many ways we can show our employees how much we appreciate and value their hard work and dedication to the company.”
Luvata Ohio is located on Pittsburgh Drive in Delaware.
