OhioHealth began operating Ohio Wesleyan University’s Student Health Services in August, expanding the resources available to students.

With this collaboration, the university’s Student Health Services staff will become OhioHealth associates, according to OhioHealth.

The staff will work on campus at Stuyvesant Hall and will include a physician on-site for 14 hours per week, a full-time nurse practitioner, a full-time registered nurse and a medical assistant.

Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware will serve as the liaison during this partnership.

Services offered include:

• Physical examinations.

• Illness/injury care and follow-up.

• Gynecological exams.

• STD/HIV testing.

• Health promotion counseling.

• Coordination of care with primary care physicians and specialists.

• Immunizations/allergy shots.

“OhioHealth has collaborated with Ohio Wesleyan for many years, providing on-campus physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists,” said Marissa Michaels, system vice president, OhioHealth employer services. “We are excited to expand our partnership with the university to expand the resources available to students.”

“We have been pleased to work with OhioHealth for a number of years to provide medical professional staff to support our students and student-athletes,” said Kimberlie L. Goldsberry, interim vice president for student affairs at Ohio Wesleyan. “It was natural for our working relationship to evolve to Ohio Wesleyan partnering with OhioHealth to provide our Student Health Services on campus. The broad network of OhioHealth resources and medical professionals who are well-trained and dedicated to their patients will most definitely benefit our students.”

Students will continue to schedule appointments as they have in the past but, beginning this fall, their insurance providers will be billed for services, and students will be responsible for their respective co-pays for medical visits, OhioHealth officials said. They will need to bring their insurance cards, student/legal IDs and co-pays to their appointments.

Ohio Wesleyan will continue to offer an optional health insurance plan for students and families.

In addition to OWU, OhioHealth also operates the student health center at Otterbein University in Westerville.
