Second-ranked Patriots add to dominant start

Olentangy Liberty’s girls tennis team, ranked No. 2 in the state by ohiotenniszone.com, kept right on rolling Tuesday, improving to 10-0 with a convincing 5-0 OCC-Central Division win over visiting Westland.

Patriot winners included Makayla Schaefer (6-2, 6-0 at first singles), Cecelia Ko (6-0, 6-0 at second singles), Sahana Seth (6-0, 6-0 at third singles), Claire Cox and Natalie Perry (6-0, 6-0 at first doubles), and Lexie Brentgartner and Jaclyn Voss (6-0, 6-0 at second doubles).

Orange 5, Hayes 0

The Pioneers picked up a solid OCC-Capital Division win Tuesday in Delaware, blanking the Pacers 5-0.

Sruti Chigurupati (6-4, 6-1), Sundari Vudatala (6-4, 6-0) and Isabella Prislusky (6-2, 6-3) nabbed singles wins for Orange. Mary Damko and Katherine Dahs, meanwhile, combined to win at first doubles (6-2, 6-1) while Jessie George and Livie Mauger completed the sweep with a win at second doubles (6-3, 6-0).

Buckeye Valley 3, River Valley 2

Kasey Morris picked up a win at first singles, Lexi Poulton won at second singles and Arianna Phrakornkham and Jo Ann Leienberger teamed up to notch a win at first doubles as Buckeye Valley clipped visiting River Valley Tuesday in Delaware.

Mount Vernon 3, Big Walnut 2

The Golden Eagles battled, but fell a court short Tuesday in Mount Vernon.

Big Walnut winners included Macie Kercsmar (6-3, 6-3 at first singles) and the duo of Lexie Kirkpatrick and Abby Friend (6-1, 6-3 at second doubles).

GIRLS GOLF

Ashley Au fired a two-under-par 34 to lead Orange to a win over New Albany and host Hayes Tuesday at Oakhaven.

The Pioneers finished with a combined 153 while the Eagles and Pacers closed with respective totals of 182 and 196.

Hayes was led by Bailey Hager, who carded a 42.

VOLLEYBALL

Liberty handled host Upper Arlington in OCC-Central Division action Tuesday, winning in three sets.

The Patriots won the first 25-18 before sealing the deal with wins of 25-17 and 25-18 in the second and third, respectively.

Maddie Fogg ran the offense with 21 assists, Madison Brenner and Morgan Harris finished with 11 digs apiece and Shelby Stewart finished with a team-best eight kills in the win.

Delaware Christian 3, Granville Christian 0

The Eagles won their first league match of the season Tuesday, handling Granville Christian 25-10, 25-14, 25-13.

Delaware Christian, which improved to 5-1 overall, was led by Erin McCullough’s 14 kills, five aces and 10 digs.

Other standouts included Liz Sullivan, who finished with eight kills and 14 digs; and Brianna Blackburn, who closed with 30 assists and eight digs.

Big Walnut 3, Hayes 0

The Golden Eagles were solid Tuesday in Sunbury, knocking off the visiting Pacers 25-17, 25-13, 25-16.

Jess Ruffing led the attack with 10 kills while Machaela Podraza finished with eight, Tiffany Soisson had nine and Bryn Rammelsburg closed with six in the win.

Marion Harding 3, Buckeye Valley 0

The Barons never quite found their rhythm Tuesday, falling to visiting Marion Harding 14-25, 13-25, 15-25.

BOYS GOLF

Big Walnut shot a 175 in the Eagle Cup Tuesday at the New Albany Country Club — a mark good enough for third behind New Albany and Watterson.

Austin Schone led BW with a 41 while Nick Dimitroff fired a 44 and Jake Wilson and Ben Saxe had 45s.
