DCS handles Northside Christian in 3 sets

The Delaware Christian volleyball team shook off a rough weekend with a solid win Tuesday, handling Northside Christian in three sets.

The Eagles (8-3, 3-0 MOCAL) won the first set 25-20 before taking the second and third by respective scores of 25-23 and 25-12.

Erin McCullough finished with a team-high 15 digs while leading the attack with 10 kills. Other standouts included Mary Kerins, who closed with 13 digs; Anna Fuller, who finished with three kills, three aces and eight digs; Sarah Rosato, who collected five aces and seven digs; Liz Sullivan, who had four kills and seven digs; and Brianna Blackburn, who finished with 18 assists and three kills.

DCS plays at Gahanna Christian Thursday.

Liberty 3, Westland 0

The Patriots continued their fast start to the season Tuesday, cruising past the visiting Cougars in three sets.

Liberty, which won by scores of 25-8, 25-13, 25-11, was led by Shelby Stewart’s 11 kills and five blocks, Lauren Hofer’s seven digs and Maddie Fogg’s 16 assists and team-best five aces.

The undefeated Patriots (5-0) return to action Thursday against host Hilliard Davidson.

New Albany 3, Olentangy 2

The Braves (4-3, 3-1 OCC) lost their first league match of the season Tuesday, falling to the visiting Eagles 22-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-11, 13-15.

Olivia Margolies led the way with 15 kills and another 15 digs in the setback. Her twin, Emily, finished with 12 kills while Sarah Hansel had 10 kills and two blocks in the setback. Megan Cochran was also steady, finishing with 10 kills and three blocks, while Zoe Miller collected a career-high 32 digs.
