Letter to the editor: ‘Help support these wonderful programs’ at Delaware Area Career Center

To the editor:

I’m a 2008 graduate of Buckeye Valley High School and the Delaware Area Career Center. Before my junior year, I spent most of my free time outside of school teaching myself about graphic design. It was a passion I found early in my life.

So I was thrilled when I discovered the digital design program at DACC. After taking my high school tour of the program, I quickly saw this was the path I needed to take to further my passion for design.

Digital design at DACC is a two-year program for high school students that offers college credits and industry credentials to help them prepare for college and their careers. This program enabled me to grow in a manner I never thought possible, and better prepared me for my future in the real world. I learned more in those two years than any classroom ever could have taught me.

I now run my own graphic design business, confident in the decision I made. The digital design program at DACC gave me the knowledge I needed to pursue a career I only dreamed of having.

DACC is going to be on the ballot for a renewal levy on Nov. 3. By voting “yes,” future students will share the same opportunities I experienced. Please help support these wonderful programs.
