The Delaware County Bird Club, a 30-year-old informal organization of individuals who appreciate birds and the natural environment, has a new home at the Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve, in the Preservation Parks of Delaware County system.

Meetings are generally held the fourth Monday of each month, except when there are conflicts with holidays, and are open to anyone interested in birds, no matter their levels of expertise. Meetings begin at 7 p.m., with conversation and refreshments, followed by announcements and a program.

Upcoming meetings and programs are:

• Oct. 26: “Full Annual Cycle Research in the Birds of Ohio,” by Chris Tonra, Ohio State University.

• Nov. 16: “Research on the Big Walnut Bluebird Trail,” by Kyle Davis, freshman zoology student at Ohio Wesleyan University; and “If You Build It, They Will Come,” regarding nest boxes, by Stephen, Bischoff, a Dublin Scioto High School senior.

• Dec. 14: “Delaware Reservoir Christmas Bird Count Preview,” by Rich Bradley, professor emeritus, Ohio State University.

Details about each program can be found at www.preservationparks.com, by clicking on these dates in the online programs and events calendar. Reservations are not required; the address for Deer Haven Preserve is 4183 Liberty Road (the entrance is shared with Havener Park), and the lodge is located at the end of the entrance road.

The Delaware County Bird Club was founded by Edward “Jed” Burtt, Ohio Wesleyan University zoology professor emeritus. In addition to holding regular meetings, the group conducts the annual Delaware Reservoir Christmas Bird Count.
