Letter to the editor: ‘Can opener’ — Nothing but ‘lip service’

To the editor:

An hour ago, I saw the effects of another truck that struck the railroad underpass on Central Avenue. For decades, The Gazette has reported on “The Can Opener” and still nothing has been accomplished but lip service about the problem.

I am sure that the fines that have been collected over the years would have been enough to lower the road surface on this state highway.

We have some great minds in this county, so let’s not waste them — and correct this problem, instead of dancing around this issue. We owe this to those who travel on this state highway through this county.
