The Delaware County League of Women Voters is planning a public forum on state ballot issues that will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Delaware Area Career Center’s south campus, 4565 Columbus Pike.
The forum will be moderated by Jo Ingles of Ohio Public Radio and Television’s statehouse news bureau, and questions will be taken from the audience after presentations.
Issue 1 will be addressed by Carrie Davis, executive director of LWV Ohio. Davis will provide information on the importance of creating fair voting districts and explain the amendment that will be on the ballot, say organizers. The league endorses this issue.
Support for Issue 2 will be presented by State Rep. Andrew Brenner, R-Powell, with State Sen. Charleta Tavares, D-Columbus, presenting the opposition. The issue is a constitutional amendment that would govern “citizen initiatives establishing economic monopolies,” according to Ballotpedia.com.
Issue 3, establishing the legalization of marijuana in Ohio, will be supported by John Humphrey of the ResponsibleOhio organization, with Brenner presenting the opposing view.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization committed to encouraging people to be educated voters. The Delaware County League is participating in the national voters’ guide — www.Vote411.org — and local voters can see an outline of the three state issues at that website. Additional races and candidate information are currently being added for this area, organizers say.
The forum is free to the public.
