Ostrander man killed in car crash

An Ostrander man was killed in a one-car crash early Saturday.

Dead is James Christopher Norman Jr., 19, of Ostrander.

The Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred about 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, on State Route 745 south of U.S. 42.

Troopers report that Timothy A. Mikita, 20, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata north on SR 745. The Hyundai traveled over the center line and off the left side of the road, striking a culvert, troopers said. The vehicle continued and then overturned, striking a utility pole.

Norman, who was a passenger in the Sonata, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mikita was transported by helicopter to Grant Medical Center with serious injuries, troopers said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
