Central Ohio Symphony to perform Star Wars, Harry Potter music

The Central Ohio Symphony will explore the music of “Star Wars” and Harry Potter at two concerts Nov. 19 and 20.

The concerts — one in Delaware Nov. 20 and the other in Marysville Nov. 19 — will be performed by the symphony’s 70 musicians.

The concert will feature the “Star Wars Suite” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” original scores written by Oscar-winning composer John Williams. The Harry Potter work will be narrated by Delaware County Judge David Hejmanowski with references to the book.

The symphony will also perform “Mars, the Bringer of War” from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” a work which served as inspiration for the Star Wars music.

The Delaware concert will be in the symphony’s home in Gray Chapel on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus on Friday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. Tickets for premium seating in the balcony and main floor are $35; regular tickets are $25. All seating is reserved.

“This will be a great way to get ready for the newest Star Wars movie in December,” said symphony executive director Warren W. Hyer. “Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars or Harry Potter character. We plan to have members of the 501st Star Wars re-enactors attend the concert. There will be great music and plenty of fun for everyone.”

The Marysville concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Marysville High School auditorium. Reserved seating is $25 a ticket. VIP tickets are $50 each.

Tickets for these concerts may be purchased at the Symphony Source, 24 E. Winter St., Delaware, online at www.centralohiosymphony.org, and by phone at 740-362-1799.

Both concerts are sponsored by Richwood Bank. As the exclusive sponsor, Richwood has full event details on its community events page. Details are also on the symphony website, www.centralohiosymphony.org.
