Buckeye Valley bond issue vote now at a tie

A recount will have to be conducted to determine the final outcome of the election for the Buckeye Valley Local School District bond issue.

The voting ended in a tie, according to the results of the official canvass by the Delaware County Board of Elections. That canvass includes results from Marion, Morrow and Union counties.

Board of Elections officials said Dec. 1 is the tentative date for the recount in Delaware County. Elections officials in Marion, Morrow and Union counties will be responsible for determining the dates of recounts at their respective offices.

The Buckeye Valley Board of Education voted unanimously on Tuesday in support of a resolution to place the $31.25 million bond issue on the ballot for the March 2016 primary election. That action can be rescinded later depending on the outcome of the recount.
