Delaware County commissioners unanimously approved child placement service contracts Monday between the Delaware County Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) and various placement providers.

DJFS has approved 2016 contracts for $90,000 with Hittle House, $140,000 with Advantage Adoption and $35,000 with Kids Count Too.

These contracts pay for maintenance, administration, case management, transportation, behavioral healthcare and other services like insurance, clothing or special diets.

Commissioners unanimously approved a second amendment for 2015 child placement contracts between DJFS, the county and Adriel School Inc. and St. Vincent Medical Center.

The amended cost for child placement was $55,783.72 with Adriel School and $172,100 with St. Vincent.

The original contract with Adriel School was for $15,000 before it was amended to $50,000.

The original contract with St. Vincent was for $89,060 and was later amended to $165,000.

A first amendment to an agreement between DJFS, county commissioners, Buckeye Ranch, Kids Count Too and Ohio Guidestone was unanimously approved by the board.

The contracts with Buckeye Ranch was amended to $103,840 from $100,000; Kids Count Too was amended to $32,320 from $30,000; and Ohio Guidestone was amended to $24,180 from $15,000.

“We give our best guess for how long the kids will be in placement,” David Dombrosky, DJFS director, told commissioners. “These kids actually ended up staying longer than we anticipated.”

The commission also unanimously approved required training travel for DJFS employees.

“This is probably 90 percent of the travel (for the year),” Dombrosky said. “It does not include things like conferences. So, if we have a conference come up, we request that separately. A lot of it is required. Social workers are required to maintain a certain number of hours of training per year.”
