Mike Young, a crossing guard at Smith Elementary School, had his face covered in the cold Monday while he helped two students cross the intersection between North Liberty Street and West Heffner Street, just after school let out for the day. The temperatures were in the teens Monday afternoon — with a wind-chill factor as low as minus 15 degrees — and snow was forecasted to fall overnight. The National Weather Service also predicted a high of 25 degrees and a low of 5 degrees for today with snow showers mainly before 10 a.m.
