Engineered Material Systems Inc., a global manufacturer of adhesives, conductives and inks, will officially open its new, 64,000 square-foot Delaware headquarters at 100 Innovation Court on Friday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m.

The company invested nearly $4.5 million to add production and research capacity, and consolidate operations under one roof from three Delaware locations at 101 Johnson Drive, 132 Johnson Drive and 600 London Road. In addition, a total of 38 jobs will be kept in the city and allow the company to add eight new positions within the next few years, according to city officials.

EMS has been in Delaware since January 1998, producing products for multiple sectors, including appliance, automotive, filter, lighting, medical and microelectronics.

“We are proud to announce the opening of our new building and very excited to see this project come to fruition,” said EMS President Todd Irion in a prepared statement. “Our new building will allow for any future expansion of the company and provides all the necessary equipment for our state-of-the-art research and development efforts. The city of Delaware is an excellent place to do business.”

The ISO-certified company primarily focuses on acrylics, epoxies, silicones and urethanes for electronic materials and related product lines.

“We are excited and pleased about EMS’ expansion to the new Innovation Court facility,” said Delaware Mayor Carolyn Kay Riggle said. “Their economic contribution to our community is significant and I look forward to their continued growth and success.”

“Engineered Materials Systems is the first company to occupy our new Innovation Park which was made possible by the current construction of Sawmill Parkway,” said Sean Hughes, city economic development director.
