Staff Report
The Buckeye Valley girls basketball team started strong, jumping out to a 13-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, but couldn’t maintain the momentum as host North Union bounced back with a pair of big quarters on the way to a 52-35 MOAC-Red Division win Thursday night.
A win would’ve moved the Barons (10-6, 7-3 MOAC) into a second-place tie with the Wildcats (11-6, 9-1 MOAC) … and they looked well on their way to moving up a spot early on.
North Union bounced back in the second, though, outscoring BV 11-6 to take a 20-19 lead into halftime.
The Wildcats made their move in the third, outscoring the Barons 21-9 to take control. North Union then won the fourth 11-7 to smooth out the scoring summary.
Alaina Radcliffe and Logan Hatcher led Buckeye Valley with 15 and nine points, respectively.
Autumn Hudson paced North Union with a game-high 19 points.
The Barons return to action Saturday against visiting Marion Harding.
