Kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade students at Delaware’s Smith Elementary School showed off their work for visiting author and illustrator Steve Harpster, who asked them to do their own versions of his drawings Wednesday morning. Harpster visited several of the district’s elementary schools this week and showed students how to draw different animals, using letters, numbers and simple shapes. Harpster told students their drawings didn’t have to be perfect but, if they practiced, they could get good at it.
