With 2016 being the village of Sunbury’s bicentennial year, a United States bicentennial quilt, raffled off in 1976 as part of the nation’s bicentennial celebration, is currently on display in the Burrer Family Memorial Room at Community Library in Sunbury. The quilt, designed by Bob Quelette and sewn by 23 community women, features local landmarks representing government, education, religion, housing and transportation. Virginia Ihle, wife of Dr. L.M. Ihle, whose medical practice was in the Dustin House on Galena Square, won the quilt. The quilt will be on display at the library through the end of March.
