Sunbury church launches Saturday service

Sunbury United Methodist Church has been looking for a way to incorporate a more relaxed worship style with upbeat music and a relevant message for those who might not be comfortable with traditional church services, as well as provide services for anyone who would prefer Saturday night worship.

On Saturday, March 12, at 6 p.m., the church fellowship, along with the band Contact, will join Pastor Mike Mack, youth director Angie Buxton and others in leading a Saturday night worship service.

“This is a casual, come-as-you-are service that mixes rockin’ contemporary Christian music with multiple other genres of music you might hear on your own playlist,” Buxton said. “If you’re not really a traditional church person, but have been wanting to know a little more about faith; or if you work Sunday mornings or are just looking for another worship option, join us for this laid-back service that includes a meaningful message and plenty of electric guitar.”

Buxton said the concert and service is for the whole community, and all ages are welcome.

“We look forward to many people from the Big Walnut community joining us as we launch our new Saturday evening service,” Buxton said. “We will have light refreshments after each service — nothing big — but everyone is welcome to join us.”

Sunbury United Methodist is at 100 W. Cherry St. For more information, go to sunburyumc.org.
