Orange library to open drive-up window early

The Delaware County District Library’s Orange branch will open its drive-up window for patrons during the peak morning commute hours, beginning Monday, April 4.

The window will be open from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, and remain open during regular branch operating hours.

“Patrons already use this window regularly to pick up materials they’ve placed on hold, but introducing the additional hours in the morning will be an added benefit for those who pass the branch before our regular business hours,” said deputy director Don Yarman. “The Orange branch library is an ideal location for residents who commute south into Columbus or north to downtown Delaware to quickly pick up items on hold without leaving the comfort of their vehicles.”

Located at 7171 Gooding Blvd., just off U.S. 23, the Orange branch regularly opens at 9 a.m. weekdays. The additional two hours of weekday service will only apply to patrons utilizing the drive-up window for picking up requests for materials. The Orange branch is the only location in the library system that offers a drive-up window.

“We know this is a service that our patrons will utilize, because we already see them coming through the drive-up window and dropping off their returns while we’re getting ready to open the branch at 9 a.m.,” Yarman said. “In an average week, nearly four dozen patrons will drive through to drop off materials before the branch opens. We’re excited to extend our service to those patrons, so they can also pick up their new materials at the same time.”
