The Asbury Arts Series will present Hayes High School graduates Erika Eckert and Abigail Nims in a “Home from the Hills” concert of vocal and viola music on Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church.

They will be joined by collaborative pianist Margaret McDonald. All three are members of the music faculty of the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Eckert was a founding member of the Cavani String Quartet and performed throughout the United States with that ensemble. More recently she has appeared as viola soloist with another group, the Takacs String Quartet.

Eckert has coached chamber music at various festivals and schools, including the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the International School for Musical Arts.

Mezzo soprano Nims has appeared with opera companies throughout the United States and abroad, including the New York City Opera, the Wexford Festival Opera and the Atlanta Opera. She has performed as a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony and in various other venues.

McDonald has worked with Kathleen Winkler, Paula Robison, David Shifrin and the Takacs String Quartet. In addition to her faculty responsibilities at the University of Colorado, McDonald is a member of the faculty of the summer program of the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.

The Sunday concert at Asbury United Methodist at 55 W. Lincoln Ave. is open to the public without charge. An offering will be taken to help defray concert expenses.

The church is handicap-accessible from the parking at the rear of the building.
