Big Walnut High School Principal Andy Jados introduced several members of the high school’s “Principal’s Leadership Team” to school board members recently.
He said members of the Principal’s Leadership Team serve as a separate body from student council, though a student could be a member of both bodies.
“Members of the Principal’s Leadership Team are selected by staff,” Jados said. “Every member of the team has at least two staff recommendations, and team members are from all elements of the high school’s student body. They’re influential, and provide true leadership in the building.”
Jados said members of the team meet monthly to focus on leadership at the high school, and have developed a positive behavior support program based on five core values — determination, tolerance, integrity, responsibility and respect.
“Because these students represent every element of our student body, they serve as a great advisory group,” Jados said. “Whatever we discuss during our meetings, we get multiple opinions and multiple ideas.”
On Thursday, April 7, Big Walnut High is hosting a luncheon to inaugurate the school’s new Alumni Hall of Fame. Jados said the event has been organized and would be run entirely by members of the Principal’s Leadership Team.
“When I first interviewed here, I learned just how rich the Big Walnut High School tradition is; how important it is to the community,” Jados said. “I wanted to build on that, and I thought a great way to do that was to have a Big Walnut High School Alumni Hall of Fame for the community as a whole.”
Jados said one or more alumni would be inducted into the hall of fame every April.
