Chase Gresock hit an eighth-inning double and Mitchell Okuley knocked him in via a sacrifice fly to lift the Olentangy Liberty baseball team to a 2-1 win over visiting Grove City Saturday in Powell.

The Patriots, now 15-3, answered a first-inning Grove City run with one of their own in the bottom half. The teams traded zeros from there … until the bottom of the eighth.

Jonathan Popham struck out the only batter he faced to pick up the win after coming on in the eighth. Preston Stanley got the start, allowing a run on one hit while striking out two and walking two in two innings of work.

Hunter Voorhees came on in relief to pitch a pair of scoreless innings before Connor Stewart, Liberty’s third pitcher of the day, tossed 3.2 innings of one-hit ball.

Gresock scored both the Patriot runs while finishing 2-for-3. Okuley, Corey Mayer and Ryan Hoffman had the team’s other three hits.
