A Delaware man involved in several November 2015 burglaries has been sentenced to six years in prison in Delaware County Common Pleas Court.

Jordan Thomas Zakany, 28, formerly of 1860 Christiana Lane, Delaware, appeared in Delaware County Common Pleas Court on April 18 to be sentenced on six charges of burglary, which are third-degree felonies, by Judge Everett Krueger.

Krueger ordered that Zakany serve 12 months in prison for each charge and ordered that the prison terms be served consecutively.

Krueger also ordered that Zakany pay $10,389.36 in restitution to six Delaware County residents from whom he stole.

Zakany was credited with the 25 days he spent in the Delaware County Jail during an investigation.

Zakany was transported to the Correctional Reception Center in Pickaway County on Friday.

Prosecutors said that Zakany was involved in a series of burglaries in mid-November. Prosecutors said he stole items like computers, jewelry, cameras, guns, tools and cash.

Several of the items were recovered from local pawn shops.

Zakany was indicted by a Delaware County grand jury on Dec. 2, 2015.

Zakany was originally indicted on six counts of burglary, which are second-degree felonies, and seven felony counts of theft. The theft charges were dropped and the burglary charges were downgraded to third-degree felonies after Zakany reached an agreement with prosecutors.

The case of another man, who was initially indicted with Zakany, has since been dismissed.

Christopher Michael Harper, 27, of 44½ Wilder St., Delaware, was indicted on a charge of receiving stolen property and a charge of identity fraud, both fifth-degree felonies. These charges were dropped when new evidence surfaced, proving Harper’s innocence, prosecutors said.

However, Harper is currently facing an unrelated fourth-degree felony trespassing charge in Delaware County Common Pleas Court and is scheduled for a May 25 trial.
