May parks programs slated

Preservation Parks of Delaware County has several May programs scheduled.

These programs require advance registration:

• “Reel ’em In,” Saturday, May 7, 5 p.m. Learn fishing basics and meet some native fish. Afterward, try your hand at catching “the big one.” Equipment and bait are provided. Register by Saturday, April 30. Ages 5 and older. Emily Traphagen Park, 5094 Seldom Seen Road, Powell.

• “Preschool Park Pals: ‘R’ is for Rainforest,” Tuesday, May 10, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May is “rainforest awareness month.” Explore this habitat through a story, activities and a craft. Register by May 3. Ages 4 and 5, accompanied by an adult. Deer Haven Park, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware.

• “Homeschool Adventures: Hummer Hunt,” Thursday, May 19, 10 a.m. Discover the secret life of a hummingbird, and search for what makes these birds unique. Register by May 12. Ages 6-12, accompanied by an adult. Deer Haven Park.

• “In Search Of … ,” Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring a water bottle. Free; all ages. Gallant Woods Park, 2151 Buttermilk Hill Road, Delaware.

• “Moments with Mom: A Mother’s Day Adventure,” Sunday, May 8, 1 to 4 p.m. Drop in to take a hike along a memory lane nature trail, make crafts, plant a tree and enjoy a picnic snack. Bring a picnic blanket and your mother. Shale Hollow Park, 6320 Artesian Run, Lewis Center.
