Final Asbury recital Thursday

0

The final recital in the First Thursday Noontime Recital Series sponsored by Asbury United Methodist Church will feature Asbury staff musicians performing duets for piano and organ.

It will begin at 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Choir director Robert Nims, associate director and organist Jan Swanson, and organist Sally Casto have chosen duets for piano four hands, organ four hands, and organ and piano together. The repertoire will include a transcription of the “Largo” from the Bach Double Violin Concerto, an early English organ duet by Samuel Wesley, arrangements of hymn tunes, a movement from Emma Lou Diemer’s Suite Sunday, and a contemporary selection for organ and piano titled “In The Light” by Carson Cooman, composer in residence at the Memorial Church at Harvard University.

Tables will be set and beverages provided for those who wish to enjoy lunch during the recital.

This will be the final recital until the series resumes in October.

Asbury United Methodist is at 55 W. Lincoln Ave. and is handicap-accessible from its rear parking lot entrance.

There is no admission charge.
